Please join us for a low-key evening ride! Whether you are just getting back on your bike for the summer, are looking for a mid-week "recovery ride," or just want to get in a few more miles during the week, this could be the ride for you! Be prepared to maintain a Steady pace, 12-14 mph on level ground, and to ride approximately 20 miles on gently hilly terrain. If you get separated from the group, you may need to find your way back alone, so you should know how to read a cue sheet, or have the route loaded on a bike computer or mobile phone.
Ride start: Another ride will be starting at the same location, but thirty minutes later. The other ride (Eric’s excellent Eastside Tours series) is nearly the opposite of this ride: It’s a challenging, hilly, brisk ride, so you certainly want to make sure you go with the right group. We will meet at the south end of the parking lot – look for a person wearing a blue and black CHEW jersey on a purple and white bike.
Rest stops: We'll regroup at the top of hills. Because the ride is short, however, we won't have rest stops, including places to fill water bottles, so make sure you bring enough water. There is a restroom at the start, but there is no place to fill water bottles (it’s a portable restroom), so please do that before coming to the start.
Weather: Steady rain will likely result in a cancellation, and the ride leader will post this information here at least one hour before the start of the ride.
Wet roads: Please come with long fenders, including a buddy flap, if the roads are wet. Without them, you will be asked to ride in the back of the group.
Mechanical issues: You should also be prepared to change a flat tire, so please carry your own tools and tubes, and know how to change the tire yourself. The group will generally not stop for repairs.
Note: Please show up to the ride start at least 20 minutes early, so you can sign a waiver and ensure you are ready to go when we leave the starting point promptly at 6:00 pm.
