March Point (Anacortes) to Guemes Is.
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Join us for a ride from the March Point Park & Ride (near Anacortes) on a 24 mile route at Steady Pace (12-14 mph)
This ride starts and ends on the Tommy Thompson Trail which crosses Fidalgo Bay on an old railroad trestle. We will take a short ferry ride to Guemes Island where we will enjoy more water views and quiet, hilly, rural roads. We will stop at the general store on Guemes where there are coffee, snacks, water, and restrooms. At the start location there is a porta-potty but no water. Bring cash ($4.00) for the ferry.
If you are interested in car-pooling to the start from the Seattle area post a comment here and the leader will try to make connections.
Let's meet at the the March Point Park & Ride at 9:00 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a prompt departure at 9:30. The leader plans to roll at 9:30. If you arrive late you may be able to catch us at the ferry terminal.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum or slower if they are crowded.
You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to unregister if you decide not to ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Services are limited on Guemes so please make sure your bike is in good condition before the ride.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
