LESS Hills in N Seattle (Steady)
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Please join us for a LESS Hills ride! Midweek Outdoor Riding in Evening with fewer, less steep hills is a weekly ride of about 15-20 miles. It is a perfect way to add a little training for otherwise weekend riders without spending too much time. And it’s a great way to enjoy the long daylight of Pacific Northwest spring and summer! Don’t go to an indoor spinning class! Instead, ride with us!
The start locations will be in North Seattle (Lower Woodland Park, Matthews Beach, View Ridge, etc.). We will ride on urban Seattle/Shoreline streets as well as some trails. We will keep the published pace on flats, but you can go uphills at your own pace. We will keep the group together on these rides. It’s nice to bring your own cue sheet. Please pack water, snack, and tools/tubes to fix a flat as always. Even though the majority of ride will be in daylight, please have your lights (both front and back) just in case.
Our first ride of the season will start at Gas Works Park, where we'll start on the Burke Gilman Trail (BGT) until we get to the UW where we'll take a short, gradual climb up 11th Ave to Ravenna Park. We'll go over the park on the 20th street bridge, down to the BGT, and over to the lovely, new 520 bridge. We'll cross the bridge to Bellevue and then we'll head back on the bridge and BGT.
5:30 pm is a roll out time. Please come early enough to get ready, sign a waiver, and listen to the safety briefing. Registering here will make the process easier and we can better preprare with appropriate number of Ride Leaders.
In addition to showers, any other hazardous conditions will cancel a ride. If a ride is cancelled due to hazardous conditions, the notice will be posted here in the comments section below, and on the Meetup announcement page by 3:30 p.m. on the day of the ride. If that notice is posted, the ride leaders will not be at the start.
