FRUMPS North Lake Washington Loop Counter-clockwise
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
For this week's FRUMPS ride, we'll head out from Wilmot Gateway Park (by the Pergolas next to the Sammamish River Trail) in Woodinville and head westward around the north end of Lake Washington through the backroads in Bothell. Riding into Seattle we'll have short 10 minute rest stop at Metropolitan Market off of NE 55th Street. We'll continue through the edge of the University of Washington Campus and join the Highway 520 bike trail heading eastward. Heading northward into Kirkland we'll have a 25 minute food and rest stop at a QFC & Starbucks (adjacent to each other). We'll continue northward toward Bothell and then return to Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville. If you customarily use the Burke Gilman trail to do this kind of route, you'll find this routing quite different! The route has some short choppy hills particularly in Bothell on the planned route.
The ridewithgps route is linked below - please print your own cue sheet if you need one.
You will need long fenders unless it is bone dry out, and zero percent chance of rain forecast. Showers will cancel.
Regroups will be occasional, though not at every turn, so please bring a cue sheet or load the route on your GPS - this is a route with a lot of turns in it. We will always wait at the top of the hills, so you can climb those at your own pace.
Mechanicals will not stop the group. Please be sure you have the equipment and knowledge to change flats, plus a cue sheet to get home, or a phone to call for assistance if needed.
You should be at the start and ready to ride 15 minutes before rollout. You must attend the safety briefing and sign the waiver, or register on this page and check in at the start, in order to ride with the group. There are restrooms at the start.
I will not be at the start if weather conditions meet the criteria for cancellation (showers cancel). If the weather is such that we wouldn't start, I will post a cancellation notice in the Comments block, below, at least 2 hours prior. Please register for the ride by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page. In the screen that follows, click the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save. By doing this you will save time at the ride start.
Mentoring is available. Please contact me if you're interested, and do know the route.
