Free Group Ride
Renton to Black Diamond and Soos Creek (Vigorous)
Event has already happened.
It's Easter, and it looks like Winter is losing its hold on us .. with promises of 60 degree weather and sunshine (finally). So a Spring ride to enjoy the outdoors!
We start at Old Renton City Hall on Mill Street in Renton - restrooms are available at the start. The route heads out along the Cedar River Trail (this section is a multi-use trail and is speed limited to 10 mph). We'll take a side route along the always senic Jones Road, and then rejoin the Cedar River Trail. Following the usual route, we'll continue along Witte Rd and Lake Sawyer Rd out to the Black-Diamond Bakery for our break.
The return takes us south to Kent-Black Diamond Road and some nice blacktop, and then up through Soos Creek Park (there is an optional restroom break at Lk Meridian Park - MP 30) where we will join the bike trail (15 mph) so you can enjoy some more views. This will bring us back into Renton.
Lots of straight stretches to just enjoy the outdoors on your bike.
Pace: Vigorous (18 to 20mph) posted pace on the flats with an equivalent effort up hills. We will regroup at the top of significant climbs, and major intersections. If you plan to ride faster or slower, please come prepared to ride on your own so that the group does not have long wait times. Please print out the Cue Sheet and bring this with you.
Regroups/Mechanicals: This is a social ride, so we will stop for mechanical issues as necessary. Please come prepared with the necessary equipment you need to take care of flats or other problems.
Cancellation Policy: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location. If questionable, you can also contact the ride leader using the provided contact information.
Please make sure to arrive at least 20 minutes before the ride start so you can get prepared to roll out at the posted time, sign a waiver, and hear the ride briefing. As is required with all Cascade rides, please ensure you wear a helmet and come prepared with gear that is comfortable and appropriate for the weather, and distance/elevation.
