MEETS Marymoor - Strenuous
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Come join us for the FINAL 2014 MEETS midweek evening training series - Marymoor edition!
We will meet at the trail parking behind Whole Foods off of 70th street, a few blocks from the far east parking lot at Marymoor. PLEASE NOTE THAT BEGINNING IN SEPTEMBER, WE WILL BE MOVING TO OVERLAKE TRANSIT CENTER FOR FALL. Although we will no longer run a training series, we will continue to offer multiple paces (steady, moderate and brisk) with routes ranging between 20-25 miles and averaging 1,500 feet of elevation.
Midweek Eastside Evening Training Series – The MEETS rides will be held Wednesday evenings at 6 pm each week through the summer. These will be training routes that incorporate local hills, are between 20-30 miles, and will progress from ~ 1,000 to 2,000 feet of elevation. There will be five paces offered for riders – Leisure (10-12 mph on the flats); Steady (12-14 mph on flats); Moderate (14-16 mph on flats); Brisk (16-18 mph on flats); and low-Strenuous (18-19 mph on the flats) which will all use a common course for that week. Each ride pace for the week will also be posted on Meetup.com. http://www.meetup.com/cascaderides/events/173366252/
Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace for their selected group, read a cue sheet, change a flat (and have the requisite equipment; groups will not stop for mechanicals), and have a positive attitude! Because this is a training series with multiple paces, we will regroup at the tops of hills, but ask that riders who are unable to keep up drop back a pace (we will wait 3-5 minutes and then continue on). Please print a cue sheet to bring with you in case you get separated or have a mechanical. Riders can ride on their own, in small groups, or with the appropriate pace ride leader. The final route and cue sheets will be available the Monday prior to each ride. These will be posted in the Comments section of this ride.
PLEASE RSVP ahead of time on MEETUP if you plan to ride with us so we can recruit additional ride leaders as necessary. RSVP not required, but would be MUCH appreciated.
