Buses + Pro-Bike Candidates Win!

From Rep. Hans Zeiger in Pierce County (R, Leg. Dist. 25) to Rep. June Robinson in Snohomish County (D, Leg. Dist. 38), at least 26 pro-bike candidates won last night. In addition, the Seattle voters approved Proposition 1 to improve bus service.

Following an exhaustive questionnaire of candidates' positions on bicycle funding and policy, Cascade had endorsed 30 candidates from the Central Puget Sound region for state legislative office. Of the 30 candidates, we can declare that 26 won their races. Another four candidates are down but the races are too close to call with thousands of ballots to be counted.

If the election results hold today, the power balance in the House and Senate would remain the same, with the Republicans in control of the Senate and the Democrats in control of the House. In advancing its priorities in the state legislature, Cascade will continue to take a bi-partisan approach and will work in partnership with our allies, including Transportation Choices Coalition, Washington Bikes and Washington Wildlife & Recreation Coalition.

Here are the current results as they stand right now:
