Cascade Board seeks additional financial expertise

Ever wonder who is ultimately responsible for Cascade’s finances? It is the board’s finance committee led by the board treasurer. They provide oversight for the budgeting and spending of money, and other fiscal matters such as tax returns and audits.

Cascade is seeking a volunteer with a finance background who is interested in becoming a board member to increase our in-house financial expertise and join the finance committee. We are looking for someone who's passionate about the bicycling community and Cascade Bicycle Club, has the time and expertise to be a board member, and who happens to also love crunching numbers, budgets, oversight and planning.

We are putting out this announcement now rather than during our usual recruiting cycle because the board has the option of appointing a truly outstanding individual to an interim board term (a one-time opportunity which would expire at the end of the year) so they are up to speed should they then run for a full board term in October and be elected.

If you’ve been thinking about board service, but not sure you want to commit to a three year term, an appointment is a great way to learn about the board, how it governs and the responsibilities of board membership.

To apply or learn more, please contact me by Monday, Feb. 17 at daniel.weise@cascadebicycleclub.org.
