Come challenge yourself this weekend with a Saddletime ride up Mud Mountain Dam!

Gil Flanagan has been leading strenuous-paced "Saddletime" rides since 2008 to help people get out and enjoy some of the longer rides the area has to offer.

"I called the series Saddletime because I thought it didn't sound too hardcore or aggressive.  I enjoy designing and finding routes and I was hoping to encourage more people to ride further, and discover some of the great bike roads that are less well known," commented Gil.

This Saturday, Aug. 10, Gil will lead a Saddletime ride out of Bicentennial Park in Tukwila up to the Mud Mountain Dam.

"I love the downs and the ups.  The short descent on SE 384th St is a very nice one.  Mud Mountain Rd is great both up and down.  Forest Canyon is another great descent.," said Gil. "I like the fact I finally have a rest stop at the Hobart Store.  I have always found it quite friendly but it never popped up at the right time before.  It will also be interesting to see what people think of the unpaved crossing of the Cedar River on the rail trail bridge.  SE 248th St is always a pleasure to ride."

These rides are long but are typically at the lower end of strenuous, so among Cascade's strenuous pace rides, Saddletime rides are very approachable, especially if you've been riding the brisk-paced rides comfortably this summer.
