41 new bike racks coming to Burien

Currently, it is not uncommon to see a bicycle chained to light poles or trees in Burien but thanks to efforts from Walk/Bike Burien this is about to change.

This May, 41 new bike racks will be installed throughout Burien, intended to make Burien more attractive for businesses, residents and visitors.

In the fall of 2012, WABI applied for and received a $10,000 grant from the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) for the Downtown Burien Bike Rack Project.  Now, WABI members have toured and mapped the whole city, making inventory of the current bike racks and potential sites for the new ones. They will finalize the sites of the 41 new racks to be installed in May.

WABI secretary Janet Shull is a graduate of our Advocacy Leadership Institute, and we're thrilled to see the work she's doing. Well done, Janet and WABI!
