Youth Programs Assistant

Sarah Lounsbury

Wheels:  Giant Avail 3, Bridgestone City Limit CB1

Favorite Ride: Biking around Owasco Lake in Auburn, NY and biking up the Rocky Mountains in Colorado

Sarah is from Syracuse, New York, where she grew up swimming in the Finger Lakes during the summer and skiing and snowshoeing during the long winter. Snowfall often tops 100 inches there! She enjoys hiking, running, competing in triathlons, writing, cinematography and of course biking! After working at a YMCA Camp one summer, she decided to invest in a road bike and discovered the freedom of the roads outside her own neighborhood.

Before completing her undergraduate studies at Le Moyne College, Sarah completed a cross-country cycling trip in which she rode more than 4,000 miles and helped build homes in an effort to raise awareness about the need for more affordable housing in the U.S.

She has extensive experience in working with youth in roles such as camp counselor, soccer coach, nanny, swim instructor, and has also helped coordinate activities in before- and after-school programs.

Sarah is so excited to be living in Seattle and working as the new Youth Programs Assistant through AmeriCorps. She hopes to inspire youth to love bicycling as much as she does.
