Free Group Ride
Eastside Suburban Gravel Ride (Moderate)

... of 10 spots remaining
Join us for some social pedaling and climbing on a well-known gravel route through the suburbs of Kirkland, Woodinville, and Redmond. If you enjoy a few hills on gravel roads with ample recovery time on flats, this ride is for you!
Let's meet at the Kirkland Transit Center between the library and the baseball field at 10 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Restrooms and water are available at the start. We will stop along the way for a restroom/water/snack break at the Sixty Acres South Park at mile 23. Please bring your own snacks and water, there will not be a place to make purchases.
There are four hours of free parking at the public parking garage under the Kirkland Library. Longer term parking is available at the Kirkland Wester Parking Lot on 3rd Avenue, about 4 blocks away.
THE "MODERATE" PACE RATING REFERS TO GROUP PACE ON FLAT STRETCHES (14-16mph, adjusted for wind and road conditions). HILLS ARE SELF-PACED; WE REGROUP AT THE TOP OF CLIMBS. Faster riders are welcome to join us and ride ahead of the group on the climbs, if you don't mind hanging around for the regroups; plan for a social moderate pace ride as a group on the flats.
In terms of equipment, a gravel bike with gravel tires (35-55mm width, small+ knobs) is ideal for the terrain. An XC mountain bike may work for faster riders. A bike with slick tires is NOT recommended.
Please bring navigation aids, in case you find yourself substantially off of group pace and need to finish on your own. We will observe the 15mph speed limit on the multi-use trails.
Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats; if rider schedules allow we may pause briefly for flat repair and minor mechanicals, but have a phone and a plan to get home/back to the start if needed.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
