Connect Downtown is a team of caring neighbors and bicyclists working to build a network of protected bike lanes in Seattle’s Center City, which stretches from South Lake Union to Pioneer Square and from the Waterfront to the Pike-Pine neighborhood.
The Connect Downtown Leadership Team consists of Demi Allen, Rebecca Roush, Dan Diiulio, Ben Rainbow and Steve Kennedy.
2nd Avenue Protected Bike Lane Demonstration Project
The city of Seattle is building a protected bike lane on 2nd Avenue in downtown by the end of September (in time for the rollout of Pronto! Cycle Share), to demonstrate how important a protected bike lane is in the area. The team is working to educate bicyclists and the public about this project and to build small business support.
Center City Protected Bike Lane Network
The city of Seattle is starting to map a network of protected bike lanes in the Center City (South Lake Union to Pioneer Square) and completing initial design work for two miles of protected bike lanes in downtown. The team is building support from restaurants and retail stores.
Connect Downtown team members are reaching out to local restaurants and retail stores to submit applications to the city for additional on-street (and on-sidewalk) bike parking racks.
