Pronto celebrates its half-birthday with ‘Pronto Week’

Seattle’s bike share system, Pronto Cycle Share, will soon blow out the candles on its half-birthday cake (they grow up so fast!).

In celebration, Pronto is hosting a series of rider-appreciation events and promotions next week, April 13-19, which it is deeming ‘Pronto Week. ‘

“We have had an incredibly successful start in Seattle,” said Pronto Cycle Share Executive Director Holly Houser.

So far, 2,400 individuals have joined as annual members of Pronto Cycle Share, opting to pay a one-time membership to log an unlimited number of rides.

Pronto also released performance stats.

Since its launch in October 2014, Pronto users have:

  • biked 87,000 miles;
  • taken 46,000 trips; and
  • burned 3.7 million calories.

Pronto additionally announced in its press release that all Pronto kiosks will be equipped with Spanish and Simplified Chinese language options.

Throughout the week, Pronto will offer membership discounts, special deals from participating businesses and member-appreciation events.

The event is for Pronto annual members and up to two of their non-member guests, and will include a raffle, Bern helmet designing by local tattoo artists, complimentary beverages from Hilliard’s Beer and Peddler Brewing Company, DJ and photo booth.

In partnership with Pronto Cycle Share, Cascade Bicycle Club is offering this new introductory class on urban biking and bike commuting. Geared towards new riders and new users of Pronto Cycle Share, this class covers bicycling basics and will answer any other questions you have about bicycling.
