Our Washington State Ferry system, the largest system in the nation, is a vital transportation link throughout Puget Sound.  It's also your ticket to exploring some of the most captivating scenic roads in the area on your bike.  Thanks to the club's Chilly Hilly and Kitsap Color Classic rides, most of us are familiar with the ferries to Bainbridge and Kingston.  This week, ride leaders Gail Wentworth and Bob Goldberg give you an opportunity to explore a lesser-known ferry route: West Seattle to Southworth.

On Sunday, June 30, catch the 10:10 a.m. Southworth ferry from the Fauntleroy terminal to explore southern Kitsap County and make some new bicycling friends.  This leisurely-paced ride travels roughly along the Puget Sound shoreline to Port Orchard, taking in the great views.  Along the way, you'll stop at Manchester State Park to say hello to Gobi and Butterscotch the camels.  They're always happy to see visitors!

"I am most looking forward to this ride because it has many scenic views of the water/coast," said Gail. "Traffic is low on the secondary roads and we ride at a relaxed pace.  The ride is mostly easy - no big hills."

After a lunch stop in Port Orchard, the ride returns back along the coastline, arriving back to the ferry terminal around 3 p.m.  For more details, fare information, and instructions on how to contact Gail or Bob for more questions, please visit the Daily Rides listing for this ride.
