Wednesday is Walk and Wheel Day!

Bundle up and leave the car at home tomorrow, because it’s international Walk and Bike to School Day!

October is International Walk to School Month and on Wednesday, Oct. 3, hundreds of schools across the state and the world are participating in walk and wheel to school events.

Activities range from walking school buses to school assemblies, promoting traveling to school by foot, bike, skateboard, scooter or bus.

Walk to School Month celebrates efforts to increase physical activity, clean air, pedestrian safety, and connections between families, school and the broader community, all while reducing traffic congestion around schools.

Cascade Bicycle Club will be hosting walk and bike to school day activities at Sand Point Elementary as part of our SDOT mini grant with Sand Point Elementary. Walkers and bikers will be welcomed at school with snacks, stickers, blinky lights, and coloring books.
