The Port of Seattle is celebrating its centennial with a series of free, public events including a family-oriented bike ride in partnership with Cascade Bicycle Club. Did you know the Port of Seattle has more than five-miles of contiguous park and public space along Elliott Bay? Come discover these gorgeous, salmon-safe port parks on a 14-mile round trip ride on Sunday, June 5.

The ride will begin at Shilshole Bay Marina, the Northwest’s premier sailing center.  Then riders will head out on the Burke-Gilman Trail and cross the Chittenden Locks that were named after the port’s first elected commissioner.  Ride a swift downhill mile to historic Fishermen’s Terminal, the homeport of the North Pacific Fishing fleet. Continue south past the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal and Elliott Bay Park, before reaching the Bell Harbor Cruise Terminal at Pier 66.

Take a break and check out the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship before heading back to Shilshole. Each stop along with route will have information booths showing “then and now” photos of the Port. Stamp your passport at each location to qualify for a drawing.

Rain or shine, this ride is a fun way to sail into summer biking season, and is perfect for younger riders and the casual cruiser. Ride registration opens at 10 a.m., and the event will be wrapped up by 4 p.m. Full details can be found on the Port’s website.
