to Work Day is May 20—this Friday! If you’re reading this blog, we hope you’re planning on riding. If you live too far to bike the whole way, take the bus or drive for part of it and ride the rest, or bus into work and ride home. Even if you don’t bike to work for another 364 days, bike to work on May 20.

Here's a schedule of what's in store:

*Commute stations, 6 – 9 a.m.

*Mayor’s Ride, 7:15 – 7:45 a.m.

*F5 Bike to Work Day Rally at City Hall, 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

*F5 Bike to Work Day After Party Party in Ballard, 4 – 7 p.m.

You know why you bike: for fun, for exercise, for the environment or because one day your car broke down and you’ve never looked back. But why bike on F5 Bike to Work Day?

First, F5 Bike to Work Day is a blast! Thousands of cyclists pack the streets. Smiles, waves and the friendly ring of bike bells fill the air. No matter where your commute, you won’t be riding alone on Bike to Work Day.

Plus, the month of May coincides with bike counts around the region—the more bicyclists out there getting counted, the more effectively Cascade can advocate for better bicycle facilities.

By riding on F5 Bike to Work Day you help generate political momentum for safe and bike-able streets. The annual increase in cyclists on Bike to Work Day shows transportation planners and politicians that we need a network of bicycle trails, lanes, boulevards, signage and new innovative facilities. By cycling together, we can make a difference.

F5 Bike to Work Day shows what our streets could look like every day if we continue encouraging and investing in bicycling as transportation.
