Retired newspaper editor; recently moved to Snohomish County from Louisville, Ky., to be near our children and grandchildren. In Louisville, I was active in the Louisville Bicycle Club, riding just shy of 20,000 club miles over the past 10 years, including serving as a ride captain, and probably another 20,000 in non-club miles. My favorite rides each year were the Old Kentucky Home Tour between Louisville and Bardstown, Ky., and the Hilly Hundred at Bloomington, Ind. Lots of hills.

Why you joined:

For the social aspect of riding, to support bicycling locally and to get to know the area better. A new community is a learning process and a bicycle is the best way to learn how to get places.
