Fall City-Red Barn Loop, Post-Emerald Ride
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Doing the Emerald Ride? Good idea! So am I. But it's only 12 miles. So let's fill out the day and the mileage with a nice Red Barn Loop. The Red Barn start time is set back an hour, to 11 AM. So we can have a 7 AM Emerald Ride kick-off, do the course, and then get out to Fall City. Easy-peasy!
The Emerald City Ride details are at the second Link, below. If it doesn't fill by then, on-line registration closes on 22 May, and there is NO start-line registration. Just sayin'.
Here's the Red Barn Loop boilerplate: A mostly flat social ramble in the rural Snoqualmie River Valley, with a short stop for refreshment at Starbucks in Carnation on the way back. Porta-pot (quality always in question) but no water at the start. Pit toilet at Chinook Bend Park/Mile 11.4. Restroom and water on the return leg at Carnation/Mile 22.7. A RideWithGPS route map and cue sheet are at the Link, below. If you need a cue sheet, please print one. Electric-assist bikes welcome.
It can be a long way to Fall City. Please plan your trip to be ready to ride 10 minutes before start time so we can do the safety briefing and get on the road. Bring ID; spare tube, tools, pump, patch kit, and skills to fix flats; and a phone and a plan for rescue if your bike fails. If roads are wet, roostertails from bare tires are a safety issue for other riders. Fenders with long mudflaps show that you care and indicate that you want to ride within the group as opposed to being off the back.
Please RSVP by clicking on the red "Register Now" button under the ride title above. This will save time at the start. NOTE: I will print the ride waiver at 5 AM on ride day. It's not a problem if you decide after that time to ride but you'll need to sign in at the start.
The listed phone will not be answered on the morning of the ride and its voicemail will not be checked. If weather conditions meet the "Showers cancel" criterion, I will post a ride-cancelled note in Comments, below, at least 2 hours prior and not go to the start. Please check here before leaving for the ride.
