FRUMPS - Lake Wilderness - Green River Gorge
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
As you enter the Lodge parking lot, use spaces on the right side. We will start with a descent to the Cedar River, then roll on rollers through the forest to Lake Francis Park for the first rest stop (mile 8). Next a straight one mile hill climbs up 244th but we will regroup at the top. The Rock Creek Natural Area has some beautiful descending curves. We cross Hwy 169 to ride a short section (0.4 mi) of hard pack gravel on the Lake Wilderness Trail to avoid Hwy 169. Bring money for lunch at S'wiched (mile 20) [check menu link below] or, if you prefer, there is also a Starbucks and Safeway nearby. After lunch we head east to Ravensdale then south to Cumberland and descend to the inspiring Green River Gorge. A gradual 4 mile climb brings us up to Black Diamond. The final rest stop is at Lake Sawyer Regional Park trail head (mile 39) then rollers and a short 12% descent bring us back to the start.
