Ride Around Washington

18th Annual Ride Around Washington

Pedaling the inland empire

Walla Walla to Metaline Falls
July 30 - August 6, 2016

This year’s Ride Around Washington (RAW) features the quiet rural back roads, quaint farming communities, dramatic rolling hills and Ponderosa pine forests of far Eastern Washington.  The Pedaling the Inland Empire tour hugs the eastern border of the state, beginning in Walla Walla and traveling north to Metaline Falls, just a few miles from the Canadian border. This challenging route features some of RAW’s favorite roads and overnight venues from previous tours of the Forgotten Corner (2002, 2010), and the Palouse (2004, 2012).  The Inland Empire offers some of the best back road cycling Washington has to offer.

RAW 2016 is the third section of the four-year RAW Cycle series that circumnavigates the state.  The RAW Cycle began in La Conner in 2014 (Olympic Peninsula & Coast) and continued from Cape Disappointment in 2015 (Roll On, Columbia).  This year’s Pedaling the Inland Empire and 2017’s route over the North Cascades will complete the circuit.

Whether you are returning for another section of the RAW Cycle, or an adventure cyclist seeking an exceptional fully supported tour, the Pedaling the Inland Empire tour offers a fantastic week of riding.

RAW is a fully supported bicycle tour with overnight camping accommodations.  The tour includes three meals per day; hot showers; daily ride support (snacks, water, and mechanic services); daily luggage transport from each overnight camp; and gear and bike transportation to the start in Walla Walla and from the finish in Metaline Falls.

Who does your registration support?

Did you know the Ride Around Washington is a fundraiser? Your registration fee helps Cascade provide bicycle education programs for children, families, school groups and everyone else who wants to ride a bike. It also helps us advocate for safer, more connected bicycle infrastructure throughout the state and region. And thanks to you, we’re able to offer fun and challenging riding events and free group rides every day of the year! Your participation truly helps improve lives through bicycling.

Our events are made possible with support from the local communities through which we ride. In addition to supporting Cascade’s programs, your registration fee helps Cascade give back to these communities and the organizations that thrive there. We’re grateful for all their continued support.
