Keynote Speaker: Sean Halsted

Sean Halsted

Three-time Paralympian in Nordic Skiing and U.S. Air Force Veteran Sean Halsted was injured after falling 40 feet out of a helicopter during a fast rope search and rescue training exercise in 1998.

Sean could not bear to lose sports and his active lifestyle, so when the US Department of Veterans Affairs coordinated a group of disabled Veterans to ride the Seattle to Portland (STP) in 2000, he committed to attempting the route on a handcycle.

On his first attempt, Sean completed 160 miles of the route and was determined to keep training in hope of completing the full 200+ mile ride. Since 2000, Sean has completed the STP at least nine times and can average a speed of up to 15 mph. This year, Sean will ride the STP once again and help lead his fellow Veterans in a life-changing accomplishment.

Join us as Sean speaks to his personal journey of discovering how impactful bicycling can be on a life.
