North End Ride before Dark (NERD) - (Steady/Moderate/Brisk)
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Come join us for the 2018 North End Ride before Dark (NERD) series
The series offers midweek training rides, 20-30 miles long, to keep up strength for the longer weekend rides. Multiple paces are offered: Steady (12-14mph), Moderate (14-16mph) and Brisk (16-18mph).
We will regroup at the top of long climbs for a reasonable amount of time, but if a rider frequently makes the group wait, they make be asked to wait for the next pace group to arrive. Riders should also know how to read a cue sheet, change a flat (and have the requisite equipment), and have a positive attitude! Please print a cue sheet or load the route into a GPS device. We will not be stopping to wait for mechanical failures so having a cue sheet is strongly recommended.
We meet at the Lynnwood Transit Center, in the SE corner by the Interurban Trail. If it's your first time at Lynnwood TC, there is a second area SE of the bus area. Please check the map above for exact location.
- Riders should be ready to ride 20 minutes before start time, and we roll promptly at 6pm to make the most of the daylight.
- There is a water fountain at ride start, and a single restroom open during the week, but it is often occupied. If you do need it, be sure to arrive with extra time to wait for it to be vacant.
- Front and rear lights are recommended. The routes are designed to be completed around sunset but riders should be prepared in case of unforeseeable delay. Riders who do not have lights may be turned away for safety. Steady pace might shorten the route to be finished within a reasonable amount of daylight.
- PLEASE RSVP by registering using the red "Register Now" button above to fill out the e-waiver and select your pace ahead of time if you plan to ride so we can recruit additional ride leaders as necessary AND to make the sign in process faster and easier for everyone. RSVP not required, but would be MUCH appreciated. If you sign up using e-waiver but decide not to ride the day of it is not a problem. We hope you will ride during the upcoming weeks!
In case of inclement weather, the ride leader will post a cancellation notice in the comments by 4pm day of the ride and will not be at the ride start.
