Getting Ready to Ride -- North End #6 -- South Everett Loop
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
It is time to get ready for the cycling season! Our Getting Ready to Ride adventure this week will take us through South Everett, the Paine Field area and parts of Lynnwood. Come on out and have some fun with us!
Getting Ready to Ride is an 8-week series of rides in south Snohomish and north King Counties that begins with a very gentle first ride and then adds a little distance and elevation or technical difficulty each week. GR2R will help you:
- Increase endurance and confidence
- Build hill-climbing skills
- Make new friends in the cycling community
- Gain confidence in riding safely with groups
- Get ready for the Cascade Training Series (CTS), which begins in April
- Be prepared for the bicycling season
- Have fun!
If you are new to bicycling, or if you have just been off your bike for a while, this is the series for you! GR2R rides are free and open to anyone. You will ride with others who share your pace level and your enthusiasm for riding. All rides will be led by Cascade Ride Leaders, experienced volunteers who enjoy riding, are knowledgeable about bike safety and the rules of the road, and who know the routes. These will be social, stay-together rides with waits at the top of hills and at all critical turns, along with some photo-op stops.
Please arrive 20 minutes early to get yourself ready, listen to the safety briefing, and sign or check the waiver. 10:00 is roll-out time.
In addition to steady rain, ice/snow and any other hazardous conditions will cancel a ride. If a ride is cancelled due to hazardous conditions, the notice will be posted here, in the comments section below, by 8:00 a.m. on the day of the ride. If that notice is posted, the ride leaders will not be at the start.
There will be a bathroom at the ride start. We can also make a restroom stop at the halfway point if needed. All riders should bring enough snacks and water, and come equipped to deal with their own mechanical issues. Waiting for mechanical issues will be at the discretion of the ride leader. It's winter, so please dress appropriately and use fenders on your bike. If you haven't ridden your bike for quite some time, please do an ABC check (link below) or take it to your local bike shop a few days prior to the ride date.
We will post the final version of the route and the cue sheet a few days prior to the ride date, in the comment section below.
To pre-register online: You can sign up for your Cascade account on the website. Once you have a Cascade account, you can pre-register for this ride online by clicking on the Register button at the top of this page and entering your information.
