If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Have you been off the bike for a while? Bought a bike and not yet confident riding? Whether you are riding for health, fitness or just fun here is your opportunity to develop riding skills, become more familiar with your bike and feel confident riding in a group.
The third of 8 rides in the series for Pierce County.
This ride is a gentle climb from the Orting Main City Park to Wally's Drive-In in Buckley for lunch, using the Foothills Trail. The ride has wonderful views of the Carbon River and the newly open section connecting to Buckley has a great wooden bridge to cross. Please arrive 30 minutes early to ready your bike, check in, and to listen to the S.M.A.R.T talk.
This is a social ride with experienced ride leaders to grow your confidence with group riding. It is free and open to everyone. The elevation and mileage will increase every week. A total of 8 rides every Sunday with one on Saturday. Rides start promptly at 11:00 am.
Our pace will be "Steady pace" 12 - 14 mph when on a flat surface without any headwind. Note that, average walking speed is around 3 mph, so we will be 4 times faster than walking. If you aren't sure about your pace, please join us anyway. If you need to return to the start early simply notify the ride leader.
You should dress appropriately for the weather, but you do not need spandex or other specialized bike gear. All you need is a working bike, water, and a helmet. If you haven't ridden your bike for quite some time, please do an ABC Check (link below) or take it to your local bike shop a few days prior to the ride date.
During the safety and ride briefing, we will go over hand signals and what we say during the ride to keep ourselves safe.
Register - Please sign an e-waiver by clicking on the “Register Now” button at the top of this page (right below the ride title) and enter your information. If you cannot make the ride, you do not need to unregister.
