Ride Description:

Training for Spring is a 10-week series intended to keep our legs moving and warm throughout the winter and preparing us for spring training rides. Optional social gatherings are available before and after the rides to meet and connect with Ride Leaders and fellow riders. Our mid-ride rest stops will be brief in an effort to retain body heat. Please arrive 20 minutes before the published start time to ready your bike, check in, and participate in the SMART safety discussion. Please register to expedite your check-in process.

The 9th of our 10 week Training for Spring series starts at Peet’s Coffee in Redmond.  We’ll warm up our legs heading south along East Lake Sammamish and then climb up Newport Hill. We’ll make a quick restroom stop at the QFC in Factoria then roll across I-90 and up to SR-520. We’ll return to the start line via the 520 Trail. An optional post-ride meal will be at Flying Saucer Pizza in Redmond.

If you want a cue sheet, please go to the RideWithGPS link below and print one out for yourself.  There won't be any available from the ride leaders.

Parking: As a courtesy to local businesses, please park in the East Lake Sammamish Trail parking lot and walk/ride to the start location.  And note that there are no public restrooms in the Peet's-Whole Foods shopping center.  If you want to use the facilities at Peet's please buy something there before you do otherwise, please use the public porta-potty in the East Lake Sammamish Trail parking lot.

Rest Stops:  QFC in Factoria MP 18.5 and Marymoor Park MP 42.2

Post-Ride Meal Location: Flying Saucer Pizza, 14712 NE 91st St, Redmond

Ride Leader mentoring is available. Please contact the Ride Leader prior to the ride.

I pre-rode the route Sunday afternoon. You might want to revisit the I-90 Trail part on Mercer Island (MP 21.3 to 23.4 and divert to N. Mercer). The Mercer Island Half Marathon is Sunday from 7am to 1pm and will be using the Trail near the Park & Ride. From Leschi to Madrona (MP 25.4 to 27.8) are bad road conditions (pot holes, cracks) on Lake Washington Blvd from Irving Street all the way to Lakeview Park. It's passable, just with caution. Good opportunity to practice riding S.M.A.R.T. Madrona Park restrooms were open and functioning. The 520 trail near Nintendo still has a few nasty (BIG) holes and root heave in that section. I've notified the DOT repair team about this. East Lake Sammamish trail still under construction in Issaquah. Your updated route took care of that (thanks!).
