Saturday Morning Rides in Snohomish County #6
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Invitation: This fall we will check out the the beauty of Snohomish County again and enjoy riding together with other year-around cyclists! The routes for the Steady and Moderate paces are about 35-40 miles. The routes for Brisk and Vigorous are a bit longer and/or have more elevation. The rides start are at a different place each week so that we can ride on some roads that are less traveled.
Where to find us today: This park might be a bit of a challenge to find as it is BELOW the road. In Snohomish find the intersection of 2nd Ave & Pine. Continue 0.1 mile east on 2nd, then turn right onto Cypress Ave. Turn left before the trailers. The road heads down.
Steady/Moderate Route: 36.5 miles with about 1,663 ft elevation (per RWGPS). If the restroom is closed at the start, then there will be a brief restroom stop at mile 6.2. Rest stop is at mile 19.7 (there is no food available on this route).
Brisk/Vigorous Route: 40.9 miles with about 2,090 ft elevation (per RWGPS). If the restroom is closed at the start, then there will be a brief restroom stop at mile 10.6. Rest stop is at mile 24.1 (there is no food available on this route).
Route: Get in a grind and pedal; there are not that many traffic stops on this route! This is a route with many rivers: To start, we will follow the Pilchuck River for several miles. The open fields make place for lots and lots of trees to get us all pumped up with oxygen. But suddenly you will find yourself in Monroe where we will have a reststop at Lewis Park. We cross the Skykomish river and ride the Crescent Lake delta where the Skykomish River flows into the Snohomish River (this area regularly floods). A short climb and then it's time to have fun on High Bridge Rd and to look for birds along the Snohomish River. Some farmland, Harvey/Snohomish Airport and the cute town of Snohomish and we'll have finished our loop.
Cue-sheets are not provided; please print your copy.
Registration: Your registration on this website is appreciated; all you'll have to do at the start of the ride is check off your name. You don't need to be a member of the club, but you do have to create an account.
Expectations (important, please read!): Arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the ride to check off your name or sign the waiver and be part of the safety briefing. S.M.A.R.T. riding is the standard and all riders are held accountable for doing their best to adhere to these; we want to be awesome representatives of the bike community in Snohomish County and be safe! Front and rear lights are highly recommended! Riders should be able to maintain the posted pace. We regroup occasionally. Riders have to be independent when they have a flat and/or mechanical. Please print a cue sheet in case you get separated from the group and bring a charged cellphone if possible. All riders are responsible to promote a great experience by having a positive attitude, having fenders when the roads are wet or rain is in the forecast, enjoying the beauty we are surrounded by and just by having fun! Steady rain or other unsafe conditions cancels the ride. If the ride is canceled, it will be posted by 7:00 am in the comment section. In that case the ride leaders will not be at the start.
