Saturday Morning Rides in Snohomish County #5
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Invitation: This fall we will check out the the beauty of Snohomish County again and enjoy riding together with other year-around cyclists! The routes for the Steady and Moderate paces are about 35-40 miles. The routes for Brisk and Vigorous are a bit longer and/or have more elevation. The rides start are at a different place each week so that we can ride on some roads that are less traveled.
Where to find us today: We will meet at the immediate south end lot when you enter the Ash Way P&R at the traffic light.
Steady/Moderate Route: 38 miles with about 1,829 ft elevation (per RWGPS). Restrooms at mile 5.6. Food stop at mile 22.3
Brisk/Vigorous Route: 41 miles with about 2,31 ft elevation (per RWGPS). Restrooms at mile 5.6. Food stop at mile 22.3
Route: Via some backroads, Lake Stickney and the Interurban Trail, we'll get to Thornton Sullivan Park along Silver Lake for a quick restroom stop. Then we dive into the Snohomish Valley and head north to Everett, passing the Everett Train Station. Look for nice views of the Cascades and Mt Baker. We get to tip of Everett where the Snohomish River spils into Possession Sound. There is a great photo-op at the Hibulb Lookout. We will ride along the waterfront, stop at Seas The Day Cafe which has a most fabulous view of the Sound. By now you might have noticed that your legs are doing awesome. Easy explanation: the hills are yet to come! Nothing too crazy, just a nice way to stay toasty warm. We'll ride along the Perimeter Road of Boeing and be marveled by those big airpland and then find our way back to the car.
Cue-sheets are not provided; please print your copy.
Registration: Your registration on this website is appreciated; all you'll have to do at the start of the ride is check off your name. You don't need to be a member of the club, but you do have to create an account.
Expectations (important, please read!): Arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the ride to check off your name or sign the waiver and be part of the safety briefing. S.M.A.R.T. riding is the standard and all riders are held accountable for doing their best to adhere to these; we want to be awesome representatives of the bike community in Snohomish County and be safe! Front and rear lights are highly recommended! Riders should be able to maintain the posted pace. We regroup occasionally. Riders have to be independent when they have a flat and/or mechanical. Please print a cue sheet in case you get separated from the group and bring a charged cellphone if possible. All riders are responsible to promote a great experience by having a positive attitude, having fenders when the roads are wet or rain is in the forecast, enjoying the beauty we are surrounded by and just by having fun! Steady rain or other unsafe conditions cancels the ride. If the ride is canceled, it will be posted by 7:00 am in the comment section. In that case the ride leaders will not be at the start.
