Ride Description:

Note the new starting point!  Parking at the old location has become a problem, so we are going to try starting the ride from the  parking lot of Woodinville Sports Fields, which is right across the street from Wilmot Park with its bathrooms and water.  It's about 5 miles down the trail from Logboom.

This ride heads generally north into Snohomish county, with a lunch stop en route if the group so decides. Route may be shortened or lunch omitted if weather is bad. Ride leader will make the route available on by late afternoon of the day before the ride.  Search for MUMPS 20170717 at RWGPS, or better yet, check the comments below for a link.

If the weather is doubtful, check here for cancellation on the morning of the ride. I will post a ride-cancellation notice at least two hours prior to start.

We often explore new routes.  If you are not riding with GPS guidance, or if you do not know the area where we are riding, consider bringing a map and a hard copy of the route from the ridewithgps website.

Remember, MUMPS ride is starting/ending at Woodinville Sports Fields today because of the parking hassles at Logboom.

The route heads over Redmond Ridge and down Union Hill into Carnation before we climb up through Tolt Highlands to Lake Joy and down Big Rock into Duvall.  After lunch there is a long, relatively flat cruise along the river valley, followed by a steep climb up Seattle Hill before we descend back to Woodinville.  About 71 miles, 3800 feet of climbing.  There are many ways to shorten the ride for those who want to bail out early.

There is 4.5 miles of gentle climbing through the woods on a semi-paved-kinda-chip-sealed-gravelly-road between Carnation and Lake Joy.  Because we are climbing slowly, in the past riders have not had problems with the road surface.  That section can be avoided by taking Hwy 203 and climbing up Stillwater Hill, but heavy traffic makes that much less pleasant.

The weather forecast looks good, but check here at 8 Monday for cancellation if the weather appears questionable. It might be a good idea to check here anyway, since the ride leader got bit on the finger by a piglet Saturday, and I suppose there is some remote chance it could get infected.
