MORE Hills and Cherry Blossoms! (Moderate)
Event has already happened.
Please join us for a MORE Hills ride! Midweek Outdoor Riding in Evening is a weekly ride of about 20 miles with a few hills. It is a perfect way to add a little training for otherwise weekend riders without spending too much time. And it’s a great way to enjoy the long daylight of Pacific Northwest spring and summer! Don’t go to an indoor spinning class! Instead, ride with us!
The start locations will be in North Seattle (Lower Woodland Park, Matthews Beach, View Ridge, etc.). We will ride on urban Seattle/Shoreline streets as well as some trails. We will keep the published pace on flats, but you can go uphills at your own pace. We will regroup at top of every hill for a reasonable time, but if you are too fast/slow for the majority, it will become self-paced. It’s nice to bring your own cue sheet. Please pack water, snack, and tools/tubes to fix a flat as always. Even though the majority of ride will be in daylight, please have your lights (both front and back) just in case.
Everyone is welcome, including those who aren't so sure about hill climbing. BUT PLEASE BRING A SMILE AND GOOD ATTITUDE WITH YOU! Yes, it's hilly. Yes, it's hard! But, seeing the view from the top is always rewarding :-).
This week, we will move the start location to Montlake Community Center and go seek out Seattle's best cherry blossom views. We will first head out to Lake Washington Blvd, then climb Chesty Blvd up to Beacon Ave/Jefferson Park, come back thru Arboretum, then onto University of Washington Quad before heading back. The parking is available at the community center and on neighborhood streets, but often crowded and limited in spring time. Please consider riding to the start or take a light rail to UW station and cross Montlake Cut. Bathroom is available at the community center building.
5:30pm is a roll out time. Please come early enough to get ready, sign a waiver, and listen to the safety briefing. Registering here will make the process easier and we can better preprare with appropriate number of Ride Leaders.
In addition to steady rain, any other hazardous conditions will cancel a ride. If a ride is cancelled due to hazardous conditions, the notice will be posted here in the comments section below, and on the Meetup announcement page two hours prior to the start time on the day of the ride. If that notice is posted, the ride leaders will not be at the start.
What to Know Before You Go
