Free Group Ride
Seattle Pastry Ride: Sluys Bakery, Poulsbo, via Seattle-Bremerton ferry (Brisk)
Event has already happened.
Our route will take us north through East Bremerton, along the water to Brownsville and Keyport where we'll make a quick stop for photos of the submarines at the Naval Undersea Museum. From there we'll head along Liberty Bay to the delightful Norwegian-influenced town of Poulsbo and the bakery. After enjoying our treats, we'll follow the Lemolo waterfront south to Agate Pass, and cross the bridge to Bainbridge Island, where we'll ride to catch the 35 minute ferry back to Seattle.
Pace: Please note, we will ride within the posted pace on the flats with an equivalent effort up hills. If you plan to ride faster or slower, please come prepared to ride on your own so that each pace group does not have long wait times.
Regroups/Mechanicals: This will be a social ride with regroups at the top of bigger hills and at all critical turns along the way. We'll also enjoy some opportunities for photos at nice viewpoints. Please come prepared with the necessary equipment you may need to take care of flats or other mechanical problems. A cue sheet is available for you to print (at the link below) and is good to have in case you happen to get separated from the group.
Rest Stops: There are restrooms at the ferry terminal and onboard the vessel. There are also restrooms at the museum (mile 12) and at Liberty Bay waterfront park in Poulsbo (mile19) near the bakery. Bring cash for treats and coffee.
Requirements: Please make sure to arrive in time to purchase your ticket and be ready to board the ferry by 0820. We will have our safety brief (and sign the ride waiver) onboard as we cross. As is required with all Cascade rides, please ensure you wear a helmet. Come prepared with gear that is comfortable and appropriate for the distance/elevation/weather conditions.
RSVP: Please sign an e-wiaver (link just below the ride title if you are signed into Cascade.org) or via Meetup, so we can plan for the appropriate number of Ride Leaders.
Parking: For those of you driving to the route, there is some limited free parking available at 1280 16th Ave W, adjacent to the north end of Elliot Bay Bike Trail near the shipping/cruise ship termial. From there, it's a 3 mile ride along the trail to the ferry terminal.
Arrive by Rail: You can also bring your bike on the Light Rail Link, and exit at the Pioneer Square station. From there, it's about 1/2 mile west on Columbia St to the ferry terminal.
Cancellation Policy: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride and the ride leaders will not be at the ride start location.
