Event has already happened.
Just starting to ride or getting back on your bike? Beginning to be comfortable riding on bike paths and quiet roads? Now is the time when you want to take advantage of nice weather to ride for health, fitness or just for fun! Here is your opportunity to further develop your skills, become more familiar with your bike, and learn to enjoy riding in a group on a variety of suburban and rural roads.
This is a social ride with an experienced ride leader to help you get into biking or just to gain more experience. The route consists mainly of rural roads with a short section near the start on Redmond-Fall City Rd. The terrain is mostly flat, but will include a gentle climb along the Tolt River where you can use your gears and develop skills riding uphill. Everyone will be able to ride the hills at their own pace and we always regroup at the top and before any turns so you need not be concerned about being left behind.
You are expected to have a bike that is in good working order and the basic fitness level to be able to ride for a distance at 10 – 12 mph on flat ground.
Route - We will start and finish at Fall City Community Park located at the corner of Neal Rd SE and Fall City-Carnation Rd SE (WA 203) in Fall City. The route takes us through some of the most scenic farmland on the Eastside along the Snoqualmie River Valley with views of the Cascades and Mount Rainier. On the way in Carnation we will make a short side trip to Tolt-McDonald Park and walk our bikes over a historic 500-foot suspension bridge. Then we'll ride through the woods along the Tolt River before turning back for ice cream and pie at the Remlinger Farms store. Please download the route or print the cue sheet. (The link to these is given below).
Bring water or sports drink, as well as money for purchasing refreshments at the store. There are Port-o-Potties at the start and bathrooms at Remlinger Farms.
Directions to the start - From Seattle, take I-90 to Exit 22 (Preston). Turn left at the top of the ramp, then right at the next intersection. Continue down Preston-Fall City Rd to Fall City. Bear right at the T in Fall City to cross the Snoqualmie River. Go around the traffic circle onto northbound State Route 203 toward Carnation and Duvall. Make an immediate left onto Neal Rd, across from the Fall City Bistro, and a left into the parking lot at Fall City Community Park. NOTE: The parking lot may be crowded due to the rafting concession parking. You can park along Neal Rd and then join us in the parking lot.
Ride Registration - Arrive at least 20 minutes before the ride start to get ready to ride, do one last check of your bike, and sign the waiver. To make things go quicker at the start, register for the ride by signing into your Cascade account, or by first creating one, and then clicking on the "Register" button at the top of this page.
Weather - Showers or more severe weather will cancel the ride. Ride cancellation will be announced in the comments section at least two hours before start time and the ride leaders will not be at the start.
