FRUMPS: Ride Around Chuckanut Mountain
Event has already happened.
This is a classic northwest ride and for good reason. It incorporates all that is good about biking in the region, including open agricultural land, small towns, lakes and mountains, a wide choice of eating places for a comfortable lunch break and a spectacular second half riding Chuckanut Drive to the finish. The route is relatively flat, for the most part, but with a couple of challenging hills. The first climb of about 250 feet begins just east of Edison and a second climb of 300 feet occurs just after crossing Lake Samish at its narrowist point. The ride south on Chuckanut Drive is a roller coaster before eventually dropping back to farm country.
This will be a social, stay together ride at a true steady pace. Climb at your own pace and we will be sure to meet at the tops of every climb.
We will take a break in Fairhaven for lunch - my favorite eating spot is the Colophon Cafe, but feel free to eat wherever.
The park is about 65 miles north of Magnuson Park and takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to drive. Meet at the lower parking lot where there are real rest rooms. There is a $10 parking fee unless you have a Discover Pass.
