Event has already happened.
Been looking for an easy group ride? Want a ride that's mostly NOT on roads, flat, and not very fast?
This is a flat jaunt on the paved and gravel East Lake Sammamish Trail, from the NE 70th St trailhead behind Peets and Whole Foods in Redmond, to Issaquah. The surface is asphalt or packed gravel and is suitable for most bikes. You can even bring your beach bike....
We're likely to be at the low end of the steady pace. This ride is designed for the casual rider. We will honor other trail users and this ride may slow or break into smaller groups from time to time.
We'll talk briefly about group riding and then pedal the trail at a steady pace through the trees and along the Lake to Issaquah. When the trail ends at Gilman Blvd we'll cross onto Juniper Street and continue to the Issaquah Coffee Company for a rest stop. Then we'll return the way we came.
Porta-potties or restrooms at the start and the mid-point of the ride. Route map and cue sheet at the link, below. Please register for the ride by signing into your Cascade account, or by first creating one, and then clicking on the "Register" button at the top of this page. It'll make things go quicker at the start.
Please have a bicycle in good working order and be able to ride this distance and pace. Bring water and a snack, plus a few dollars for the rest stop. Keep in mind, though, that if things don't work out the route back is a snap--you just stay on the trail until it ends.
Please feel free to email me if you have questions.
SPECIAL NOTE: Ride leaders will not be at the ride start if weather conditions make it obvious that we will not ride. I will announce the cancellation in the comments section below, not later than 9:00 AM on ride day. If the weather looks iffy, be sure to check here before going to the start.
