FRIDAY RIDERS: Lynnwood History Tour
Event has already happened.
Do you think of Lynnwood as merely one giant shopping center and street after street filled with big box stores? You'll know better after taking this tour that goes past several historic buildings and includes a stop at Lynnwood Heritage Park to see the last remaining car of the Seattle-Everett Interurban Railway. You'll learn about the Little Landers, the Alderwood Manor chicken ranches, and more.
We'll stop for refreshments at Whole Foods before heading north to the Lake Stickney area. The route is mostly on the Interurban Trail, which spurred the development of the area, with time also spent poking around central Lynnwood in the Scriber Lake area, and then north of 164th to Lake Stickney. This ride is more about a leisurely exploration of the sights and history than a distance workout.
Bring money for the stop at Whole Foods, water and snacks, and a spare tube and tools for flat fixing. Come early for the safety briefing -- we'll try to leave promptly at 10am.
DIRECTIONS TO START: From I-5 just north of Lynnwood, take the 164th St SW exit and turn onto 164th heading east towards Mill Creek. Turn left (north) at the 2nd traffic light after the freeway, at Meadow Road. Turn right at 146th St SW, and the park will be on your right just past 4th Ave W.
