Interested in learning about Cascade's High Performance Cycling (HPC) Team? 

The purpose of this ride is for riders interested in the High Performance Cycling Team to have a chance to meet team members and learn about the team. HPC has over 140 members throughout the metro area, with team rides starting from various locations.

HPC is intended for cyclists who like to ride fast, hard, far, and climb hills in a non-racing environment. The team is dedicated to supporting strong cyclists who want to improve their skills and fitness while practicing safe group cycling techniques. Cascade's High Performance Cycling Team is a perfect fit for:
  • Riders who are developing fitness and skills and want to ride with folks who are faster and more experienced
  • Strong riders who are looking for compatible cycling buddies who regularly do long, scenic, challenging rides

We will meet near the rest rooms adjacent to the baseball fields. Please park in the upper parking lot.

We will leave Tibbets promptly at 9 AM. Please arrive ten minutes early so we can review ride protocol and introduce ourselves. Before we roll, there will be a short talk about group riding and pacelines.

We will ride to Marymoor Park to pick up additional riders at 10 AM (Parking Lot I) and have a short discussion about the team. Riders joining the ride at Marymoor will be responsible for getting themselves back there after the official ride ends at Tibbets. From Tibbets, there will also be opportunities for riders to form into groups if they would like to continue riding. There are many great climbs on Squak and Cougar Mountains that are easily accessible from Tibbets.

What Pace Means

Pace classification indicates the intended range of speeds on level ground without breaks. This means downhill sections of the ride may be faster, and uphill sections slower.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
