Fall City-Red Barn Loop--The Last Dance until November (2d Attempt)
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
The Stossel Bridge over the Snoqualmie River, between Carnation and Carnation Farm/Camp Korey, closes on Monday 18 August for repainting and does not open until November. So here is one last chance to ride the mellow route from Fall City to the Red Barn before winter. (Note: This is the second try for this event. Here's hoping King County doesn't change the closure date of the bridge yet again.)
It's a gentle out-and-back mosey in the Snoqualmie Valley. We'll stop right after Stossel Bridge for a quick look at Chinook Bend Natural Area roadside displays on the way out, and at Starbucks in Carnation on the way back. Porta-pot near the start.
Directions to the start: From Seattle take I-90 to Exit 22 for Preston. Turn left at the top of the ramp, then right at the next intersection. Continue to Fall City. Bear right at the T in Fall City to cross the Snoqualmie River. Go around the traffic circle onto northbound State Route 203 toward Duvall and Monroe. Make an immediate left onto Neal Road, across from the Fall City Bistro, and into the gravel lot at Fall City Community Park.
Note that the start time is 9:30 AM. Please plan your travel to Fall City so you and your bike are ready at 9:15 AM. Pedals turning at 9:30.
