CATS Magnuson (Brisk) #14: Graham & Kanaskat
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Fourteenth in an annual series of weekly training rides designed to prepare riders for large events (STP, RAMROD, RSVP, HPC, etc.). Rides will increase in distance and elevation gain each week.
***PLEASE NOTE: THIS WEEK THE RIDE BEGINS AT BICENTENNIAL PARK, TUKWILA - NOT MAGNUSON PARK***
Directions to the start: Bicentennial Park is on the Green River Trail, just east of Southcenter. If you are driving take exit 1 off of I-405 and go south on Interurban Ave/West Valley Highway. Turn right on Strander Blvd. The park is the first right after the bridge. We will meet in the back larger parking lot, reached by continuing through the park.
This is the series' Queen Stage. This week we're heading south through Kent, Auburn, Sumner and Puyallup, to a point just east of Spanaway before eventually turning east to Graham. We will turn northeast on Orville Rd. E and pass through Orting, Prairie Ridge, Buckley and Enumclaw, continue NE and loop around the Kanaskat-Palmer Recreation Area before eventually turning west on SE Kent-Kangley Rd. We'll continue west, settling on SE Auburn-Black Diamond Rd. for approximately 10 miles before turning north in Auburn and continuing up through Kent and back to Tukwila.
This is long ride along mostly rural roads with limited services. So it is important each rider understands the need to bring along sufficient tools and supplies. This includes spare tubes, a patch kit, pump or Co2, as well as food and water. We will maintain a strict brisk pace (16-18 mph on the flats). If wet, fenders would be appreciated. We plan to leave promptly at 8:00 AM.
