CATS Magnuson (Brisk) #12: Lowell & Paradise Lake
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Twelfth in an annual series of weekly training rides designed to help riders prepare for large events (STP, RSVP, RAMROD, HPC, etc.). Rides will increase in distance and elevation gain each week. We will meet in the large parking lot (W6) adjacent to the playing fields in Magnuson Park.
This week we head up north, first through Lake Forest Park, then just east of Alderwood Manor, past Martha Lake to a point just south of Silver Lake, where we briefly turn east before continuing north on the Lowell-Larimer Rd. We continue north for about 4 miles, where we turn southeast onto the Lowell-Snohomish Rd. and then south onto Airport Way (past Harvey Field) up Broadway Ave. to Donnelly, Elliot, and Fales Rd., where we climb up towards Maltby. We'll continue south, first on Paradise Lake Rd., then across the Woodinville-Duvall Rd. to Mink Rd. where we turn west near Cottage Lake. We'll climb up Hollywood Hill before descending into Woodinville, where we'll briefly turn north for a trek through Bothell before returning to Magnuson Park via Kenmore and Lake Forest Park.
This is long, hard ride, so it is important that each rider understand the need to bring along sufficient tools, parts and supplies. This includes spare tubes, a patch kit, pump or Co2, as well as food and water. We will maintain a strict brisk pace (16-18 mph on the flats). If wet, fenders would be appreciated. We plan to leave promptly at 9:00 AM.
