FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Xbox co-founder and Project 529 creator J Allard to speak at Cascade Bicycle Club’s Bike Everywhere Breakfast
The tech leader will join 1,000 bike advocates for the annual breakfast fundraiser in April

SEATTLE, Wash. March 28, 2017 - The Kaiser Permanente Bike Everywhere Breakfast is just around the corner on April 25, and Cascade Bicycle Club is excited to share that tech leader J Allard, best known for co-founding Xbox and creating anti-theft bike program Project 529, will serve as special guest and speaker for the annual fundraising event.

Allard previously served as chief experience officer and chief technology officer for the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. His leadership ushered in Microsoft’s first foray into the video game industry and Xbox.

Having dealt with a harrowing and extensive ordeal to recover his stolen bicycle, Allard was inspired to head up Project 529, a purpose-driven company whose mission is to cut the bike theft epidemic in North America by 50 percent by 2025. Most recently, Project 520 acquired and integrated the National Bike Registry, which has helped identify and return stolen bikes to their rightful owners since 1984.

Cascade Senior Director of Membership & Development Tarrell Kullaway said of Allard’s support: “We’re so excited to have J at the breakfast this year. He’s such an important advocate for bikes, and we think the breakfast guests will really connect with his passion—and he tells a really great story.”

The Kaiser Permanente Bike Everywhere Breakfast is an annual fundraiser that celebrates the bicycling community.

Donation fees from the Bike Everywhere Breakfast help support:

  • School-based education programs for more than 28,000 students
  • Grassroots leadership training for community advocates
  • Statewide policy work to make Washington roads safer for all users
  • More than 2,000 Free Group Rides annually for people of all ages and abilities

This year’s event will take place on April 25 at 7:30 a.m. at the Seattle Sheraton. Registration is free and now open online, and walk-ins are welcomed. A minimum donation of $150 is suggested.

Bike Everywhere Breakfast schedule and registration information can be found at cascade.org/breakfast.
