Green River Trail closures

Levee and trail restoration work along the Green River Trail has started and will lead to closures of significant portions of the Green River Trail in the coming weeks.

Please expect major detours (see page 2) starting this week at S 180th Street in Tukwila. Trail users will be detoured to the trail which parallels the UP/BNSF railroad tracks east of the West Valley Highway.  This will allow bike commuter traffic that is transiting through Tukwila a fairly straight shot around the project with little disruption but anyone commuting into the Tukwila Central Business District will need to use surface streets.

No traffic will be allowed to travel through the work zone during active construction work hours.  They currently intend to work between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Once the Kent section has been completed, construction and consequent closures will slowly move north along the eastside of the river throughout the coming month.

Trail users are encouraged to find alternate north-south routes during that time, with the Interurban Trail being the preferred route for bicyclists.
