She Bikes - Seattle Cycle Sirens: Cycle the Wave Middle Sister Prep Ride (Steady)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
This ride is a preparation ride for those planning to do the Middle Sister (37 miles) route for the 2015 Cycle the WAVE ride on September 20th! This ride will follow the actual route from Bellevue College through Bellevue down to Marymoor, up Willows Rd, through Redmond's Education Hill and back down to Lk Sammamish on the East side of the lake. We will then take E Lk Sammamish to Issaquah, wind through Issaquah to Tibbett's Park and then climb up Newport Way to end up back at Bellevue College.
We will meet at the Eastgate Park N Ride on the 4th floor of the parking garage near the skybridge. After the pre-ride briefing, we will ride to the start of the ride on the Bellevue College campus. Please do not park at the College.
The Ride Leader will be leading a Steady-paced ride (12-14 mph on the flats with no headwinds or tailwinds). Those who wish to ride at a faster pace are welcome to do so, but it will then become a self-paced ride for them. We will regroup as needed along the way and this is a NO DROP ride.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes early to get ready to ride, sign the required waiver and participate in the SMART briefing. Riders are expected to have the following with them: water, red blinking tail light and white front light, a spare tube, a pump and other tools to change a flat tire. Please remember that it's important to check your tire pressure regularly during the summer. (e.g., weekly during the cycling season) We usually have a floor pump with pressure gauge available at the start.
Showers will cancel this ride. The Ride Leader will post in the comments by 8am if the ride is cancelled and will not be at the start.
There are no restrooms at the start but we will stop at Lake Hills Park (approx 3 miles from the start).
Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere) is an all-women charity cycling experience that raises awareness and critical funds for domestic violence programs in Washington State. The 8th Annual Cycle the WAVE will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2015, starting at Bellevue College. For more information about the ride and the host organization, The WAVE Foundation, please visit www.thewavefoundation.org.
