Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere) is an all-women charity cycling experience that raises awareness and critical funds for domestic violence programs in Washington State. The 7th Annual Cycle the WAVE will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2014, starting at Bellevue College. For more information about the ride and the host organization, The WAVE Foundation, please visit www.thewavefoundation.org.
Cascade Bicycle Club is partnering with the CtW Ride Event Team to create a collection of training rides to help women of all riding experience prepare for Ride Day in a safe and fun environment. You do not have to be training for CtW to join this ride, but we sure hope that we would be able to convince you to join us and help “Brake the Cycle”!
The Ride Leader will be leading a Leisurely-paced ride (10 mph on the flats with no headwinds or tailwinds). Those who wish to ride at a faster pace are welcome to do so, but it will then become a self-paced ride for them. We will regroup as needed along the way so don't worry about the 10 mph, if you are between 8 and 10 mph please join us!
We will meet at the Tibbets Valley Park, which will be the halfway point for the Little Sister ride. We will ride up Newport Hill and over to Bellevue College, then we will go back by the same route down to the park. If you can't find parking, please park at the Issaquah Transit Center on the corner of 17th and Newport Way. The route details and cue sheet are available at the link below. Limited number of cue sheets will be available on the day of the ride.
This ride is recommended for those preparing for the Little Sister (13.2 miles, 715 feet elevation). The ride will begin at 11:30am (from the Tibbets Valley Park parking lot), so please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to ready your bike, sign the waiver and participate in the SMART safety briefing. (Please note that there is a bathroom and water at the start location). Riders are expected to have the following with them: water, a spare tube, a pump and other tools to change a flat tire. Follow Cycle the WAVE on Facebook and Twitter!
A Meetup link will be added in the Comments later.
