Ride Description:

Ninth in an annual series of weekly training rides designed to help riders prepare for large events (STP, RSVP, RAMROD, HPC, etc.). Rides will increase in distance and elevation gain each week.  We will meet in the large parking lot (W6) adjacent to the playing fields in Magnuson Park.

This week we head north, first around the top of the lake and through Bothell, then east into Woodinville, up Hollywood Hill and past Cottage Lake.  We'll descend to W. Snoqualmie Valley Rd. and turn north.  We'll cross the valley (via Tualco loop) and continue north through Monroe along quiet roads before jumping on Woods Creek Rd., past Lake Cochran and just south of Lake Roesiger, where we turn west.  We work our way west to Machias and our 1st rest stop.  We continue west, past Lake Stevens, the Ebey and Deadwater Sloughs, and into Everett, where we turn south for approximately 13 km, mostly along the Lowell-Larimer Road, until we hit 56th Ave. SE and the toughest climb of the day (82 meters in < 1 km).  We continue west to a point just south of Silver Lake, where we turn south, continuing past Martha Lake to our 2nd and final rest stop at the convenience store on the corner of North Rd. and 164th St. SW.  We then continue south, through Alderwood Manor, Abbey View Memorial Park, and Ballinger Way NE and atop the hill behind Lake Forest Park, before our return to Magnuson Park.

This is a long, hard ride through a lot of rural areas with no stores or services.  So it is vitally important that riders be self-sufficient.  This means you are carrying sufficent tools (air pump, Co2, spare tubes, etc.) and supplies (food, water). We will maintain a strict brisk pace (16-18 mph on the flats). If wet, fenders would be appreciated. We plan to leave promptly at 8:00 AM.
