Ride Description:

Eleventh in an annual series of weekly training rides designed to help riders prepare for large events (STP, RSVP, RAMROD, HPC, etc.). Rides will increase in distance and elevation gain each week.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS WEEK WE WILL MEET AT BICENTENNIAL PARK IN TUKWILA.

Directions to the start:  Bicentennial Park is on the Green River Trail, just east of Southcenter.  If you are driving take exit 1 off of I-405 and go south on Interurban Ave/West Valley Highway.  Turn right on Strander Blvd.  The park is the first right after the bridge.  We will meet in the back larger parking lot, reached by continuing through the park.

This week we head out first through the Renton Highlands, east through the Cascade-Fairwood neighborhood, south to Lake Youngs, then west to a point just north of Shadow Lake before turning south again.  We'll continue south to our first rest stop at the Black Diamond Bakery, after which we'll continue SE through the Green River Gorge before ascending to the Retreat-Kanasket Rd.  We'll do a counter-clockwise loop via the Kanasket-Kangley Rd. SE and then turn west on the Kent-Kangley Rd. to Ravensdale, where we'll turn north on 276th Ave. SE.  We'll follow that road through a couple of name changes before continuing on the Issaquah-Hobart Rd.  We'll divert off that momentarily to climb Tiger Mountain, then descend back to the Issaquah-Hobart Rd. where we'll have our 2nd rest stop at the convenience store.  We'll head north a little further before turning west onto May Valley Rd., which we'll take virtually all the way to Lake Washington Blvd. in Renton.  From there we'll head south, through Renton and back to Bicentennial Park in Tukwila.

This is a long, hard ride, so it is important that each rider understand the need to bring along sufficient tools, parts and supplies.  This includes spare tubes, a patch kit, pump or Co2, as well as food and water.  We will maintain a strict brisk pace (16-18 mph on the flats). If wet, fenders would be appreciated. We plan to leave promptly at 9:00 AM.
