None of the three were called to testify. Photo credit: Eden Palmer"] [/caption] After last-minute wrangling of votes, SB 5838 has been approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Unfortunately, misconceptions still abound after last week’s hearing was cut short due to time constraints. The Seattle Times reported prematurely last week that all but one senator on the committee were in favor of the Vulnerable User Bill, but this was not the case. In fact, only two signed on by the end of the committee's executive session, and the rest of these votes were hard-won. A big thanks to the five of eight committee members who voted to move the bill forward! They are:

Cascade's Major Taylor Project is seeking a qualified Bike Mechanic to run an Earn-a-Bike program for high school students in White Center, and an After School Project Instructor to lead bike rides and enrichment activities for middle and high school students in and around Seattle. The Major Taylor Project is an after-school program committed to providing bicycling skills and safety activities to a racially diverse group of youth. It provides youth with an introduction to different styles of bicycling, road riding and safety, track riding at the Velodrome (taught by the MVA ), mountain biking (taught by Trips for Kids ), and preparation for longer rides ( Seattle to Portland , Flying Wheels ).
