Thank you, Peter Hahn

As Mayor Mike McGinn’s term comes to an end, so will the tenure of Peter Hahn as Director of the Seattle Department of Transportation. Hahn was not asked to join the administration of Mayor-elect Ed Murray.

“When I look back, I can say that November 2013 finds us in a better place than 4-6 years ago when we were faced with challenging economic times,” stated Hahn in a letter to his SDOT colleagues. “ As I go to work today, the holes in the ground that I used to walk by are filling with concrete and glass and being activated by people.  We are doing great things in the City.”

In his letter, Hahn highlighted the progress made in “The Mercer Mess”, Spokane Street Viaduct , streetcars, road safety and, of course, the Seattle Bike Master Plan.

“As I reflect on my time at SDOT, I can say that I am thankful for the opportunity to have worked with you and serve the City of Seattle,” Hahn said. “I am proud to have served with you the last four years and I have appreciated every moment.”

On behalf of Cascade’s staff – past and present –and our 15,000+ members, we’d like to thank Peter Hahn for his service.

“Thank you, Peter Hahn, for your leadership in setting and implementing bold plans to help all people get around, whether it's riding transit, walking or biking,” said Brock Howell, Policy & Government Affairs Manager. Thanks to you, we're now all headed in a great direction. We look forward to working with the next SDOT Director."
