2/3/09: Tour is SOLD OUT!
Saturday, June 20
We meet the first night in the town of Chewelah and get to know each other over dinner and a briefing meeting.
Sunday, June 21 (Day 1) - 80 miles
From Chewelah, we will climb lovely quiet Flowery Trail Pass (Elev. 4046 ft.) and descend into the tiny town of Usk. We’ll follow the Pend Orielle River on quiet roads into Idaho, stopping overnight in Sand Point.
Monday, June 22 (Day 2) - 70 miles
On the second day, we leave Idaho and enter Montana following the Clark Fork River, stopping for the night at Trout Creek. Another day of quiet roads, constantly along the water.
Tuesday, June 23 (Day 3) - 85 miles
We leave Trout Creek and climb Thompson Pass (Elev. 4859 ft.) and re-enter Idaho. Descending the pass, we pick up the Coeur d’Alene Trail and follow it to Kellogg. We’ll spend two nights here in order to enjoy the interesting surroundings.
Wednesday, June 24 (Day 4) Day off in Kellogg
There’s plenty to do: rent mountain bikes and ride the Hiawatha trail, ride the ski lift up to Silver mountain, check out the museums, shop or just take it easy.
Thursday, June 25 (Day 5) - 65 miles
We will follow the Coeur d’Alene Trail all the way to its end in Plummer, Washington and then go northeast to Worley for the night. There are times that this trail is miles away from any road or other civilization. A unique opportunity to get close to nature on a road bike.
Friday, June 26 (Day 6) - 85 miles
We head north to Spokane and take the Centennial Trail along the Spokane River through the City and then continue north to Deer Lake resort for the last night.
Saturday, June 27 (Day 7) - 30 miles
From Deer Lake, we will take a leisurely route back to Chewelah and our cars.
