Gas Works Thursday Social

Explore Seattle's backstreets at a comfortable pace with a sociable crowd. Every Thursday a regular crowd of old friends and a curious crowd of new friends ride as far as evening light permits, venturing places seldom seen via routes seldom taken. We don't go looking for a challenge (we'll never ride the Counterbalance), but neither do we avoid one (we've topped a hill and waited for the sightseers among us). Bring money for dinner afterward. Heavy rain means we eat early.
Friday, June 7th

FRUMPS: Meander to Maltby

TREATS ride leaders Steve Daviess and Kathy Duden-Daviess led this ride in April 2001 (it rained). We led this ride in October 2001 and January 2002 (it rained both times). Let's try for a dry meander! We'll take Avondale and Paradise Lake Rds to the Maltby Café for lunch (bring or buy). Return to Redmond via downtown Woodinville and the Sammamish River Trail. Meet at the west entrance to Marymoor Park-- first parking lot on the left by the tennis courts.
Saturday, June 8th

Mercer Island Loop/South Lake Washington - Ride to Bicycle Alliance Demonstration

Joint ride with Seattle Bicycle Club Leaders. Jim (Seattle Bike Club) 206/217-7556. We'll ride around Mercer Island (10 miles) and then go to the Mt. Baker Tunnel (west end of I-90 Trail) to meet Bicycle Alliance for a demonstration. The I-90 Bridge bike path is being threatened by roadway expansion. The Bicycle Alliance is hosting a parade across the bridge to dramatize the cross-Lake route for bicycles and pedestrians. Come show your support and help send a messsage to the Sound Transit Board that the path is a critical transportation and recreation link. We estimate this will take an hour. Afterwards we may do an optional ride around the south end of Lake Washington. Lunch will be at the Roanoke Inn on Mercer Island.
Saturday, June 8th

This is our annual ride in conjunction with the famed Paris-Roubaix race over the cobblestones, nicknamed The Hell of the North. Tour some of Seattle's finest cobblestone streets and scenic out-of-the-way places. Bring stout wheels (or suspension), comfy saddle and a willingness to have fun.
